It was an absolute joy to work on a project with such a tight cast and crew. After eight seasons, it's clear they all still enjoy working together! Everyone from the makeup team to wardrobe to the stars made sure I felt welcome.
Working with Emmy Winner Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Neil Flynn (Scrubs) was such a treat, and a master class in television comedy, as they each brought decades of experience to the shoot. Atticus Shaffer (Brick Heck), with whom I worked closely during the shoot, brought a constant positive energy, fun, and enthusiasm that picked me up anytime the caffeine started to wear off during long days of filming. Charlie McDermott (Axl Heck) directed the episode, and I found it a treat to work with a rock-solid director my age - it took me back to days of close artistic collaborations with friends in college, and Charlie's down-to-earth, calm presence made the huge production of The Middle feel like an intimate show in my alma mater's black box theater.
Tim Hobert (Scrubs) wrote a heartfelt and hilarious episode for the audience to enjoy. I can't wait to share this work with all of you.
