Six Meters at Hillside School
On Friday, February 27, we performed at Hillside, an elementary and middle school for children with ADD and related learning disabilities. The audience of about 100 was attentive and engaged, and our performance of a little over an hour flew by. I danced using a bundle of long sticks as sound, tapping them on the ground, letting them fall, swishing them through the air, scraping them against each other. Six Meters Performs at Lincoln Elementary
For our first performance of the year, we visited Lincoln Elementary in Emmaus, PA. Performing before hundreds of children age 5-11, we taught the universal impulse of improvised dance. The kids loved it - we found out later through a gym teacher that unbeknownst to us, the student volunteers we chose tended to be the quiet "oddballs" of their classes. I was so happy to hear that we had created a space comfortable enough for them to create and dance in front of their peers. #
